SPAN NEEDS YOU!!

SPAN is looking for a few food men and women to work as interviewers. Interviewers are the first people our clients see when they come to SPAN. This job entails assessing the clients' needs and is a commitment of four hours per day, either weekly, bi-monthly or monthly....your choice. We also need pantry workers for about 2 hours a week to check expiration dates and to stock shelves. Contact Kathy Laukhart at 410-647-0889.

 

SPAN also needs friends who are part of the community for extra help with projects that are temporary and part of SPAN's many programs. Some projects are financially oriented and others include computer expertise and fundraising know-how and manpower. Please consider volunteering!

 

SPAN is "Ex-SPAN-ding"!

After 17 years in our current location, SPAN is in need of more space. SPAN is undergoing a facility improvement project to enclose the side porch and expand the greatly needed pantry and storage space. This will enable SPAN to serve more people and take on additional special projects while performing our work in a more efficient manner. In order to complete this project, SPAN is looking for assistance from you! You may help by:

• Providing financial assistance
• Donating building supplies
• If you are a licensed (or unlicensed) contractor, donate your time in completing the construction.

Our goal is to begin the construction process before the end of the summer.

Drastic Increase in Assistance Given

SPAN's level of assistance to local families in need has increased dramatically in recent months. Whether this is due to the rising cost of food, BGE rate increases, the trend in the real estate market, or other market conditions, we cannot say. As a result, we have been forced to decrease our per family level of assistance in order to maintain a balance available for future assistance. We are now turning to the community for help. Please remember us for financial donations from your family, workplace, sports team, or other organization. You can now designate SPAN as your charity of choice for the United Way Campaign by writing in SPAN’s name, address and phone number as your designation. SPAN’s address is 400 Benfield Rd.
