PLEASE NOTE: We are making decisions one day at a time, and will modify our operations based on recommendations of the Maryland Department of Health. Please check SPAN's Facebook page for our most current updates. SPAN Facebook Page
To our friends and followers: SPAN is committed to serving its community in a way that will maximize benefits while minimizing risk during the coronavirus state of emergency. We will operate during our normal hours, from 10:00am to 1:30pm, until further notice. However, our doors will remain locked. We will conduct transactions through our window, and will streamline the assistance process.
MyBGE is suspending service disconnections and waiving new late payment charges until at least May 1. Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works has suspended water turnoffs indefinitely. The Anne Arundel County Sheriff's Office is not enforcing evictions during this state of emergency.
We anticipate money being our most pressing concern because many local families will be out of work because of layoffs or to care for their children who are home from school. When this crisis is over, we will probably have a large demand for financial assistance with utility shutoffs and evictions.
For the present time, our pantry is well stocked, and we can prepare food bags that clients can pick up from our back porch after they have "checked in." Existing clients and new clients should call first to make sure we can help them. 410-647-0889. We have hand sanitizer and gloves for our personal use, so we will ensure that all food is kept safe. Our food areas are Severna Park, Millersville, Broadneck, and Arnold. We can offer emergency food to those who have no other source.
